New York City skyline. City lights at night.

There is nothing like summer nights in the city

when the heavy haze,

thick with the day’s dreams,

 nestles itself

into the cradle of lights below.

This is a view of the New York City skyline looking south facing the Empire State Building, 1 WTC (also known as the Freedom Tower) and the Statue of Liberty. It is a 25 second long exposure taken on a recent night with the Sony NEX-7. I ended up at the top of Rockefeller center rather spontaneously this past weekend.

Even though I was only up there for a short while since it was close to midnight, I had a great time taking long exposures. I was super curious as to how the Sony NEX-7 would fare with long exposures and while I only had one lens with me, I was pleasantly surprised at the results.

While this view is probably one of the most popular views in Manhattan, it still never fails to impress.
